AdultBlock extensions integrated into GlobalBlock

The Internet extensions of the AdultBlock device (.ADULT, .PORN, .SEX, .XXX) are now included in the GlobalBlock program.

AdultBlock is a service offered by ICM Registry to protect brands against cybersquatting and other online abuses. This service blocks the registration of domain names corresponding to brands in sensitive extensions such as .XXX, .ADULT, .PORN and .SEX.

ICM Registry was the first operator to offer a protection service to validated rights holders in 2011 via the dotXXX Sunrise B program.

The registry then obtained other adult extensions as part of the program for new Internet extensions (“nTLDs”). ICM Registry then extended its protection service to .ADULT, .SEX and .PORN in addition to .XXX.

The AdultBlock service ensures that the registered term is blocked in the four adult-themed top-level domains (TLDs). This prevents pornsquatting.

Finally, the AdultBlock+ service goes one step further. It combines the protection of AdultBlock with the ability to block all similar variants that appear confusingly similar to a protected brand.

This distinction between a standard service and a plus service should remind our readers of the GlobalBlock program.

GlobalBlock welcomes AdultBlock holders

Since October 3, 2024, 29 new extensions have been added to the GlobalBlock coverage. Among them are four adult-themed extensions (.XXX, .ADULT, .PORN and .SEX) of particular interest to brand owners.

As part of this integration, existing AdultBlock or AdultBlock+ holders will be able to purchase GlobalBlock at a 10% discount.

As an official agent of the Brand Safety Alliance, Solidnames is passing on this discount to its customers. This creates an important opportunity for brands to raise their blocking level from four adult extensions to 608 now covered by GlobalBlock.

Please note that this AdultBlock upgrade program is time-limited. It runs from October 7, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

What new extensions are included in the GlobalBlock program?

Among the 29 new extensions added to GlobalBlock in October, there are also nTLDs, ccTLDs and Web 3.0 in addition to adult extensions.

Country extensions for Costa Rica (.CR and its sub-domains) and Cape Verde are now covered.

There are also new Internet extensions such as .LTDA or .SRL (for limited liability companies) or .PID.

Finally, several Web3 extensions are also integrated, such as .SECRET.

In addition, the Brand Safety Alliance (BSA) has announced a rate increase of $350 for GlobalBlock Standard and $500 for GlobalBlock Plus. This increase will take effect on January 8, 2025. It will be passed on by Solidnames.

Under these conditions, it is preferable to subscribe to the service before this date. It is also possible to subscribe to the service for a period of one to three years at 2024 conditions to avoid these annual increases.
